SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR YOUR CAR

Every car is different so you should always consult your owner’s manual for a list of the specific services your car or truck requires at different intervals. But here are some of the basic maintenance services that most cars require:

The 30,000-mile service is where you will start seeing some of the vehicle service flushes, such as the brake fluid, engine coolant and transmission fluid, as well as air filters and the fuel filter.

The 60,000-mile service may be referred to as a “tune-up”. In addition to all that is done at the 30,000 mile service, the 60,000 mile service is where you will start seeing the replacement of additional fluids like the automatic transmission fluid (filter if equipped), engine coolant and differential fluids. Some vehicles will require the timing belt replacement and valve adjustment at this mileage interval.

The 90,000-mile service is where you will see some of the fluids replaced, such as the brake fluid, engine coolant and transmission fluid, as well as spark plugs, air filters and the fuel filter. At 90,000 miles you may start seeing the wear and tear on items like the drive belts, coolant hoses, motor mounts and suspension bushings starting to show signs of wear. Oil leaks may start to appear as well.

Why should I do regular recommended car service?

This is a very good question! Regular preventive maintenance is probably the best thing you can do to help save money on repairs in the future. Repairing and replacing small things now can help you avoid repairing bigger things down the road.

The basics, like checking your tire pressure, and doing oil changes and inspections gives us a chance to catch anything serious before it becomes a major problem, which in turn may help you save thousands of dollars in future repairs.

Inside your vehicles owner manual is a schedule for your regular maintenance services — it’s a great go-to-guide. A vehicle’s life is measured out in miles, and the manual will let you know how often to get oil changes and which type of oil to use. It will also tell you the recommended fuel for your vehicle, and when belts and filters need to be replaced.

Doing your own inspections can also help in the long run. Things like checking your own fluids, tire pressure and tread, and being aware of your vehicle and how it runs will make you more knowledgeable when going to a repair shop.

The following items could be things to look at for your scheduled mileage intervals:

  • Learn to check your fluids
  • Inspect and get your timing and serpentine belts replaced when necessary
  • Check your oil and change it regularly
  • Check your battery and clean connections when necessary
  • Replace wipers when they start getting streaky
  • Replace cabin air filter, and engine air filter
  • Get tires rotated and balanced, and check the alignment
  • Change spark plugs

All vehicles are different and require specific services at various times. The difference between our business verses a quick oil change shop is that we do a 35-pt courtesy check with every oil change. Yes, we may take a bit longer than the 15-minute oil change you get at Quick Monkey Lube places, but it’s because we like to help prepare our customers for any future repairs that might be needed.

Remember spending a little money now on these basic items will help you save from more costly repairs later on!
